Where is "Equality"?
Gender equality is one of the human rights. It is still a dream for many women. In India, we can still see male chauvinism. Though so many laws were implemented to support women, society is not ready to change. Even today, in many parts of our country, they curse women when she gives birth to a girl child.
All the families want their women to ask permission from them before doing a small thing. Women are not allowed to decide anything on their own. We have heard that in ancient days there was child marriage, but it still exists in few parts of India. Their parents will send her to popular schools in their city. They want her to rank first in the class. They will scold her for scoring low marks.
After facing all these, she will score good marks. Although she secures well in her XII class, they won't allow her to go out of their city. Everyone will start saying "oh god, she is a girl, why are you letting her go to some other cities?" Let her study any other course which is available in our city itself. Once she reaches 19 or 20 all their mouths will start talking about marriage. When are you getting married? I don't know why most of them are asking this question. If you want your daughter to get married early , why are you urging her to study well? What is the use? Where can we use our knowledge?
Now, see their logic, if we ask permission to go out with friends for some time, they won't allow us. Again they will start saying first get married and then go wherever you want. I can't understand this logic. Our parents being with us for more than 15 years. If they cannot understand our needs, happiness, aim, and career. Then, how will a stranger understand us? Why can't they think about this?
They will allow their son to go out, and do whatever he wants, but when it comes to their daughter they are not even ready to hear about that. This should be changed. Only then we should say India treats both men and women equally.
